After the period of continuous growth of the Austrian economy between 2015 and 2019, an unprecedented slump of national and international economic development was recorded mid-March of 2020. In this year the number of people registered as unemployed in Austria increased by around 28%. This is mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
